- Located in downtown San Angelo, the Cactus is the fourth hotel built by Conrad Hilton.
- The city's size, central location and several established wool and mohair warehouses led to its preeminance in wool and mohair for the country and later crowning as "Sheep and Wool Capital."
- If you visit the Livestock Auction Company "sale ring" on specified days, you can see and hear the activity of the second largest livestock auction in Texas. Ranchers, farmers and buyers not only buy and sell sheep and cattle, they also tell tall tales to the rhythmic chant of the auctioneer.
- Concho Pearls are formed in freshwater mussels, and range in color from pink to deep purple.
- San Angelo State Park is one of only a few places in the world where one can find well-preserved tracks of Late Permian Age terrestrial vertebrates and dinosaurs. Park rangers periodically conduct guided group hiking tours to the prehistoric track site know as Little Foot Draw, a reddish sandstone and mudstone tributary of the North Concho River.
- The official State Longhorn Herd at San Angelo State Park can trace its roots back to the original J. Frank Dobie herd.
