San Angelo's weather allows residents and visitors to enjoy a year round variety of recreational activities. The summer temperatures are moderated by a trip to any of the three lakes that border the city limits. Boating, fishing, and water skiing are popular summer sports. |

El Paseo de Santa Angela is a paved walkway that meanders through gardens along the Concho River between Fort Concho and Concho Avenue, originally a footpath from the Fort Concho National Historic Landmark used by the soldiers stationed here to the village across the river. Picnic tables are located along the way, and the trail is perfect for jogging, biking or just taking a leisurely stroll. Along the River Walk, you'll find Kids Kingdom, a unique playground designed by kids for kids with the help of a construction company and hundreds of community volunteers. |

There are many recreational opportunities for children. Several recreation centers are operated by the San Angelo Boys and Girls Clubs and the YMCA. Organized sports for children include baseball, basketball, softball, saddle club, soccer and gymnastics. There are two roller rinks and ice skating is available after each Saints home hockey game. Along the River Walk, there's a skateboard park where kids can skateboard safely. San Angelo State Park has more than 60 miles of mountain bike trails near the Concho River that wind through streambeds, over hills, along cliff faces and down exhilarating descents.
